Back to The Commons

Wikia, founded by Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, is assisting in the launch of an online magazine about Silicon Valley non-profits, the people behind them, and the people that they serve -- written, edited & produced by students in the valley.

This is a good opportunity for your students to develop their skills in mass communication, and to build their connections and resumes, while doing a service to the community. We're looking for volunteer writers, editors, researchers, interviewers, photographers, illustrators, audio/video producers, and webmasters.

There will be an orientation on Saturday, November 11 2006, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the Blossom River Community Room, 1000 Blossom River Way, San Jose CA 95123 (across Oakrdige Mall). If you have students who might benefit from participating in this project, please encourage them to register to attend.

If you have any questions, please email me or Leo Romero, the organizer of this project.

Thank you,

Gil Penchina
CEO, Wikia
