Subject: Idealist.org Start-up Meetings and your use of the wiki

Dear Leo,

Thanks for taking the initiative to set up the wiki for your start-up meeting! We admire your effective use of online tools to enhance the start-up meeting for all of the participants. Would you like to help us make it easier for other meeting hosts to do the same? We are planning to provide a series of "How To" guides on Idealist for start-up meeting hosts, including "How To Use a Wiki for Your Start-Up Meeting." Drawing from your experience, you can help us create this guide! Here are some things you can do to help:

  • Write step-by-step instructions for setting up a wiki. You'll need to explain any technical terms for those who are not techies.
  • Give us a list of sites where people can set up a wiki for free, with a brief description of each one.
  • Provide us with some examples or anecdotes about how you and the start-up meeting participants used the wiki.
  • Answer some of these questions for us:
  1. What are the benefits of setting up the wiki?
  2. Are there any potential problems or disadvantages to using the wiki that we should be aware of?
  3. How did you encourage people to participate in the wiki?
  4. How did you maintain the wiki and keep up the momentum? Do you have any suggestions for doing so?

Let us know whether you would be willing to assist or advise other start-up meeting hosts who would like to set up a wiki. If so, would you mind having your Idealist profile linked to on the How To guide online, so that people can send you messages directly if they need help?

Please let me know whether you'll be able to contibute! We would need your instructions and answers by Friday, March 2, in order to have this resource guide ready for the March start-up meeting hosts.

Feel free to contact me with any questions. Also, could I have your phone number in case we need to clarify anything with you?

Thank you!

Joanna
